Missouri men's golfers third at New York tournament

The Missouri men's golf team tied for third with Purdue at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate on Monday in Verona, N.Y.

Baylor won the tournament, finishing 11 strokes under par at 853. Texas Christian was second with an even par 864.

Missouri junior Jace Long shot an even-par 72 on Monday to finish in a three-way tie for seventh individually at 2-under 214. Despite his 2-over-par performance on Monday, sophomore teammate Emilio Cuartero finished in a three-way tie for 10th at 215.

Junior Brad Moody (13th) and senior Nick Wilson (18th) also had good performances for the Tigers. Missouri freshman Wilson Sundvold made his collegiate debut and finished the tournament 58th. The former Rock Bridge standout claimed a second-round 73.

The Tigers are set to play next Sept. 12 and 13 at the Michigan Wolverine Intercollegiate in Ann Arbor, Mich.
