COLUMBIA — The scheduled public hearing and vote on the rezoning of the southeast corner of Bethel Street and Nifong Boulevard has been postponed until Oct. 3.
Mayor Bob McDavid said at the City Council meeting that the postponement had been made at the request of the developer.
The rezoning request by owner Jeffery E. Smith would rezone 22.5 acres zoned for residential and office use to 17 acres of land for business use and 5.5 acres for multi-family housing, specifically intended for seniors.
A petition carrying 148 signatures was presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The commission approved the proposal 5-1, passing it on to the City Council.
