COLUMBIA —As part of the "You Drink & Drive. You Lose." campaign, the Columbia Police arrested 28 intoxicated drivers between Aug. 19 and Sept. 5.

Funding from the Missouri Division of Highway Safety allowed Columbia's DWI Enforcement Unit and other police officers to work overtime to use checkpoints and increased police presence in an effort to stop drunken driving.

Fifteen of the 28 arrests were made at an Aug. 26 checkpoint in the 700 block of South College Avenue. A total of 484 vehicles went through that checkpoint.
