FULTON — The death of a central Missouri woman has been ruled a homicide, the third this month in Callaway County.

Sheriff Dennis Crane said an autopsy Friday led authorities to conclude that Debra Bates, 54, had been killed by someone else.

KRCG-TV reported that Bates was found unresponsive Thursday night at her home in the Millersburg area. Crane said authorities believe she died about 12 hours earlier.

No details about the cause of death have been released.

On Sept. 2, the bodies of Mike Wieberg, 56, and daughter, Amanda Wieberg, 33, were found in the father's burned-out mobile home near Auxvasse. Authorities have said both died before the fire began.

Crane said there's no reason to believe the two homicide cases are connected.
