Workers clean up the storefront of D&H Drugstore at the intersection of West Broadway and West Boulevard on Monday. A 67-year-old woman drove her vehicle into the storefront at 8:40 a.m..

COLUMBIA — The entrance and part of a wall of the D&H Drugstore at 1001 West Broadway were destroyed Monday morning when a vehicle was driven through its front doors.

Columbia police arrived at 8:40 a.m. and found that a woman had driven through the building's main entrance, Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer said in an email. Stroer said that, according to notes from officers at the scene, the woman, 67, "thought she was putting her foot on the brake, but instead it was the gas."

No injuries were reported and the woman did not receive a ticket, Stroer said.

By noon, the drugstore's entrance was cordoned off with yellow caution tape, and signs were posted asking customers to use the drive-thru entrance to enter the building. Employees were also directing traffic to the side entrance.
