TIGER KICKOFF: Five things you didn't know about Dominique Hamilton

Thursday, September 15, 2011 | 11:30 p.m. CDT
MU defensive lineman Dominique Hamilton cools off under a cold towel and takes a swig from his Gatorade after a defensive series against the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks during the Tigers' home opener at Faurot Field on Saturday.

Dominique Hamilton may be known for clogging the middle of Missouri defensive line to stop opposing running backs or for pushing aside offensive linemen on his way to the quarterback, but here's five things you didn't know about the senior defensive tackle.

He likes Dragon Ball Z

Roommate and fellow defensive tackle Terrell Resonno said Hamilton is a "huge" fan of the Japanese cartoon.

"If he had the DVD player on the flight, he'd watch it, or if someone next to him was watching it, he'd be watching it with them," Resonno said.

Hamilton said he's also a huge movie buff, with a collection of about 150 DVDs and 60 movies downloaded from iTunes.

He is the real TigerTech

Because he grew up playing with technology a lot, Hamilton said he's become the de facto IT guy for the football team.

"A lot of people on the team call me a nerd," Hamilton said. "If there's something wrong with their computer, I try to fix it."

He is the fastest eater on the team

Resonno said that sometimes he and Hamilton go to the Subway at the Rock Bridge Shopping Center on Nifong Boulevard before practices or meetings at the Missouri Athletics Training Complex, at the corner of Providence Road and Stadium Boulevard.

"When we get to the facilities, it's already gone," Resonno said.

Hamilton said his appetite isn't just limited to Subway, though. Kobe Steakhouse is his favorite Columbia restaurant.

"Hands down," he said. "I get the crab tempura, shrimp tempura and tiger rolls."

His family no longer lives in El Paso, Texas

Alhough in the media guide and on MUTigers.com, Hamilton is listed as hailing from El Paso, his family now lives in Watertown, N.Y., more than 30 miles south of the Canadian border.

He tweets too much

This might be cheating, because anyone can see how much he tweets. While many of Hamilton's tweets are quite humorous, defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski is not overly amused.

"He does too much twitter," Kuligowski said. "That's not my opinion, that's a fact."

Hamilton's 1,172 followers might disagree. Hamilton has made his presence felt in Tiger Kickoff's Tweets of the Week as well.
