MU men's golfer Jace Long wins Michigan tournament

Missouri men's golfer Jace Long finished 7-under-par to win the University of Michigan Wolverine Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the par-71 University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.

California won the two-day event at 13-under with Baylor coming in second at 1-under. Michigan State finished third at 1-over. Missouri placed fourth, a shot behind the Spartans at 2-over.

Long birdied the final two holes to win the tournament and shot a final-round 66, 5-under-par. California's Joel Stalter owned an one shot lead heading into the final hole. A bogey by Stalter and a birdie by Long gave him the victory.

Long shot 67-73-66—206 to claim his fifth title and sophomore Emilio Cuartero finished third with rounds of 72-68-68—208.

Missouri's next tournament will be Sept. 26-27 at the Notre Dame Classic in South Bend, Ind.
