DOWNTOWN: First Baptist Church goes pink for Susan G. Komen run Sunday

Thursday, September 15, 2011 | 5:10 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — First Baptist Church is recruiting runners and walkers for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Sunday.

Participants will gather at First Baptist Church before the race begins at 8:30 a.m.

They will wear “Pink in the Pew” shirts purchased with a $35 donation. The race will end at Faurot Field.

A group picture will be taken at the fellowship table at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the national website, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is one of the largest series of 5K runs and fitness walks in the world. It is dedicated to fundraising for and raising awareness of the fight against breast cancer.
