The Missouri volleyball team held off Villanova in a back-and-forth defensive match that went the distance Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers improved to 12-3 on the season and are 1-1 in this weekend's American Classic tournament in Washington, D.C. after beating Villanova 13-25, 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 15-9.
In the fifth set, Missouri had a slim lead at 12-8 but scored three of the final four points to win the set.
Lisa Henning and Emily Wilson led the Tigers offensively. Henning recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 kills and a career-best 18 digs. Wilson pitched in with a career-best 20 kills.
Defensively, sophomore setter Molly Kreklow led the team with a career-best 22 digs. Missouri had 104 digs for the match, the most since 2003 and second most in the rally scoring era.
The Tigers will finish up the American Classic tonight against tournament host, American University.
