COLUMBIA — The Rock Bridge football team lost its first game of the season Friday night, 31-14 to Jefferson City, putting the Bruins at 3-1. The Missourian caught up with Rock Bridge coach A.J. Ofodile on Monday as his team began preparations for its next opponent— the No. 1 ranked Rockhurst Hawklets.

If you could have done one thing differently in Friday’s game, what would it be? "There’s not one thing, there’s several different things. Maybe the approach overall to the game when things didn’t quite go our way. We need to do a little bit better as a staff and as a team, players and coaches, in just responding to things not necessarily going our way. We kind of hung our head a little bit, got a little frustrated, and that wasn’t productive."

What was the funniest thing that happened in Friday’s game? "Nothing. Nothing funny."

How did you improve as a coach this week? "Just in evaluating the film, looking at some of the mistakes we made, in terms of preparation. Just trying to address those things this week."

"Who improved the most as a player this week? "I don’t know. To be honest with you, I think we all took a step back. I don’t think anybody really improved."

What are you least looking forward to this week? "I’m looking forward to this week to be honest with you. I’m anxious to get back onto the field and get back to preparing, and try and have some positive things happen for us."

What are you most looking forward to this week? "Just the opportunity to play the No. 1 team in the state and see where we stack up."

What did you tell your quarterback about last week’s game? "We didn’t talk that much after the game, but in the meeting on Saturday we just talked about mechanical things, footwork things, really just some common sense things. Nothing really too big or earth shattering."

What did you tell your assistant coaches? "We just talked about how we prepare for big games and what we want our mindset to be as far as the players and how we need to maybe step it up a little bit in terms of keeping the emotional stability of where it needs to be."

What did you tell your wife? "We didn’t even talk. She was asleep by the time I got home."

What did your wife say about Friday’s game?
