Car show to take place Saturday at Hickman High School

Friday, September 23, 2011 | 2:09 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — The 37th annual Old Wheels car show is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hickman High School.

The showis organized by the Old Wheels Collector Car Club and is free to the public. There is a $10 fee per car entered in the show. Registration starts at 9 a.m.

Scott Heck, a club member who is on the Car Show Committee, said that if someone wanted to enter a car in the past, they had to be at least 25-years-old. However, they got rid of that requirement last year to make it more open for the public.

The cars will be judged at noon, and awards will be given out at 3 p.m. There are first and second place trophies for 14 different categories.

“We will get cars — a full range of cars — from early 1900s to brand new corvettes,” Heck said.

Last year the show had about 120 cars entered, and this year they are shooting for 150.
