Columbia College hires Utley to start golf program

Columbia College selected John Utley to be its men's and women's golf coach Tuesday. The Cougars will begin competing in the NAIA during the 2012-2013 school year.

Utley has been a volunteer assistant coach for the Missouri men's golf team since 2009. 

He will have a year to recruit players and schedule tournaments before they compete in the American Midwest Conference.

Utley played on Missouri's golf team for four years and was an Honorable Mention All-American as a senior. He was a member of the Nationwide Tour in 1992.
