Thursday, September 29, 2011 | 10:57 p.m. CDT

The Hickman girls softball team defeated New Franklin 13-2 Thursday on the road.

Freshman pitcher Shannon Greene got the win on the mound for the Kewpies. Sophomore Allie Dishinger was 4-for-5 hitting, and Sydney Washington was 3-for-5. Washington scored two runs and had two RBIs for Hickman.

Hickman coach Courtney Haskell said she was pleased with the way her team performed.

“I thought our kids played really well,” Haskell said. “They’re starting to shape up, getting ready for districts.”

The Kewpies will continue play Friday at home against Troy.
