COLUMBIA — The Columbia College women's volleyball team beat Missouri Baptist 25-19, 25-23, 25-19 on Monday night at the Arena of Southwell Complex to improve to 7-0 in the American Midwest Conference.
The win breaks Missouri Baptist’s win streak at nine matches and gives Columbia College sole possession of first place in the AMC. The Cougars, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, improve to 13-2 overall. The Spartans, ranked 18th in the NAIA, fall to 17-2 overall and 6-1 in the AMC.
Vesna Trivunovic led the Cougars with with 12 kills, two aces and eight digs, while Trinity Ojo had 11 kills and five solo blocks. Kelly Corkum had eight kills, Aleah Hayes had 13 digs and Paula Ferreira had 37 assists with four kills and six digs.
The Cougars head to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the weekend to compete in the Embry Riddle University Invitational. On Friday, they face No. 9 ranked Indiana Tech University at 11:30 a.m. and No. 2 ranked Embry Riddle at 7 p.m. On Saturday, they play Georgetown (Ky.) College at 11:30 a.m. and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University at 4:30 p.m.
