On Saturday and Sunday, Hartsburg will once again be home to its annual pumpkin festival, first held in 1991. It will feature activities such as pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting, apple butter making, a straw maze, a corn maze, games and musical entertainment. Following is a map and driving directions to reach the festival.

HARTSBURG — This year marks the 20th year Hartsburg will welcome visitors to share in the spirit of fall for the Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival.

More than 200 booths filled with handmade crafts, treats, decorations and live demonstrations will be set up throughout the town, which has a population of 108.

The festival usually offers about 48 acres worth of pumpkins, but flooding damaged some this year. Jo Hackman, one of the town's pumpkin farmers, said visitors should expect about 12 acres worth of pumpkin picking this weekend at the festival.

Pony rides, pumpkin painting, straw mazes and hayrides will be set up to entertain children after they pick out pumpkins. Adults can visit Hartsburg's winery and listen to the live bands scheduled for the weekend.

The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday..

Okay, so what is the correct date for the Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival?

On this upcoming Tuesday and Wednesday/; or Saturday and Sunday (of what week?)

Yes, I know how to find the correct date but people reading this who are from out of town might get confused or misled.

And why all the confusing directions when it is easier to head south on Hwy 63, go past Ashland a very few miles and turn right (or west) at the Hartsburg exit sign, then proceed on into downtown Hartsburg and park where you can find a place.

And for those are wondering what I am commenting about in my first comment; prior to the 6:28 pm update, it was Oct 11th & 12th.

Okay, time for me to be nice to McKenzie.
If I should meet you there, I will buy you a frostie or smoothie or maybe a Catfish dinner.

Harold, I am so sorry for neglecting your comments! I did, in fact, call the copy desk to make the change as soon as I saw the wrong date had been posted. Also, we thought it would be beneficial to add a more indirect route to the festival since traffic is always backed up downtown--I used the directions and ended up beating several of my friends there.
But thank you for your feedback, it's always good to have someone checking up on our accuracy. It's too bad I couldn't have taken you up on that smoothie, though. There's always next year!
