Rock Bridge cross country wins Border War meet

COLUMBIA — For the second week in a row, Rock Bridge's boys and girls cross country teams both took first place. Friday, the Bruins competed at the Border War meet at McNair Park in St. Charles.

Of 17 teams and 318 total runners in the boys 5K race, all three top finishers were from Rock Bridge.

Senior Caleb Wilfong finished first with a time of 16:21. Senior Jordan Cook came in second after Wilfong in 16:31, with junior Nathan Keown finishing third at 16:36.

Rock Bridge girls placed four of the top ten finishers in the girls 5K, which featured 18 teams and 244 runners. Freshman Kayla Funkenbusch took first place overall and finished in 19:55. Senior runner Sam Garrett was the second place finisher with a time of 20:05. Rounding out the top-ten finishers from Rock Bridge were junior Megan Schulte in fourth place and senior Mackenzie Schimpf, who finished seventh overall.

The Bruins will compete in the Borgia Invitational next weekend at Big Driver Golf Course in Washington, Mo.
