Tuesday, October 11, 2011 | 7:33 p.m. CDT

Columbia College junior setter Paula Ferreira was named NAIA Volleyball National Player of the Week on Tuesday.

It's the second time she's won the award in the first six weeks of the season. She's the first person to be named player of the week twice in a season since 2008.

From Oct. 3-9, the No. 4 Cougars (17-2) won all five of its matches including over No. 18 Missouri Baptist University, No. 11 Indiana Tech University and No. 2 Embry-Riddle University.

In those five matches, Ferreira had 215 assists, 54 digs and 23 kills. She also was named the MVP of the Embry-Riddle University Tournament, which took place Oct. 7-8.

Columbia College's next match is against Missouri Baptist University at 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. Louis.
