COLUMBIA — A young woman was transported to University Hospital with head and shoulder injuries after she crashed her bike Wednesday morning near Pickard Hall at MU.

Capt. Scott Richardson of MU police said the woman accidentally hit a curb while riding her bike about 9 a.m. between Pickard and the chancellor's residence. She was not wearing a helmet.

She had minor injuries and was able to talk to Emergency Medical Services personnel on the scene, Richardson said. She was carried from the scene on a stretcher.

MU police would not release the woman's name until her parents had been notified.
