COLUMBIA — The Columbia Police Department responded to a call of shots fired around 6:20 p.m. Sunday at Douglass Park, Sergeant Jill Wieneke said.
“It does appear at this point, someone was shot at,” Wieneke said in an email Monday morning.
No one was injured during the shooting.
Officers spoke with several people at the park, but most people were described as “uncooperative.” One person was questioned by the police and released after further investigation.
The police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
Wieneke was unable to offer a detailed description of the alleged shooter, the intended victim or the circumstances surrounding the shooting because of the ongoing investigation.
Police are still trying to identify any witnesses of the shooting. If anyone has information, he or she should contact the Columbia Police Department at 874-7652 or Crime Stoppers at 875-8477 to give information anonymously.
