The opening round of the Class 2 state girls golf tournament was canceled today because of thunderstorms. As a result, the event has been shortened to one round, which will take place Tuesday at Sedalia Country Club.

Rock Bridge, which finished fourth at last year's state competition is competing again this year after winning its sectional by 16 strokes over Kickapoo with a 333, a school record for 18 holes.

Bruins coach Melissa Melahn said the changes will not affect the team.

"But the pressure is on now for sure," Melahn said.
