WASHINGTON — Sen. Claire McCaskill said she has mixed emotions about the University of Missouri's possible move from the Big 12 to the Southeastern Conference.

The Democratic senator, who graduated from MU, said she understands administrators' desire to keep the school relevant. But she said it would be odd for Missouri to play schools with which it doesn't have long-standing rivalries.

Even if they do make the switch, McCaskill said the Tigers need to make sure they schedule games against at least one traditional rival — Kansas. She said she's not sure "how the world could go on without the MU-KU fight."
