JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri Appeals Court Judge George W. Draper III has been appointed to the state Supreme Court.
Gov. Jay Nixon announced Draper's appointment Wednesday to replace Judge Michael Wolff, who resigned in August.
Draper has served in the state's Eastern District Court of Appeals since 2000. He was appointed as an associate circuit judge in 1994 and as a circuit judge in 1998 in St. Louis County. Before becoming a judge, Draper worked for 10 years as a prosecutor in St. Louis County.
Draper was one of three finalists submitted to Nixon by a special commission that interviews judicial applicants and narrows the field of candidates. The other finalists were Jackson County Circuit Judge Michael Manners and Joe Jacobson, an attorney in St. Louis.
