PARKADE: Fall Into Art educates community about art, music

Thursday, October 20, 2011 | 7:14 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — The second year of Fall Into Art, a communitywide art show that looks to mix art, music and education, runs Oct. 29 to 30 at Parkade Center on Business Loop 70 West.

The exhibit includes the works of 33 artists who will show and sell their work to the community. The event also includes demonstrations of woodcarving, stained glass and weaving.

Farah Nieuwenhuizen, one of the organizers, said there was a need for a show where artists can also educate the community about various genres and styles of art.

“This is a destination for the whole family,” Nieuwenhuizen said.

Pumpkin painting will be available for children.

For those worried about missing the Missouri football game against Texas A&M that Saturday, a large-screen TV will be showing the game.

Fall Into Art 2011 begins at 10 a.m. Oct. 29  and ends at 5 p.m. Oct. 30.
