EAST CAMPUS: Campus Lutheran Church to hold fundraiser Saturday

Friday, October 21, 2011 | 7:46 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — The Campus Lutheran Church will hold its second annual BikeWalkRun-Athon on Saturday at Twin Lakes Park.

According to the church's newsletter, the event's goal is to engage college students in ministry and service roles, and to raise funds for several upcoming events. These events include a service event in January, peer ministry training in February and a short mission trip in March.

Participants can compete as individuals, on a team or with their family in a 30-mile bike ride on the MKT Nature and Fitness and Katy trails at 7:30 a.m., a 5K run at 8 a.m. or a 1-mile walk at 9 a.m.

The church encourages participants to set fundraising goals and raise pledges. The teams with the most members, raising the most money in each category, will receive prizes at the end of the event. Pledge forms are available online or via email.

Registration for the event will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The registration fee is $25 for individual participants or those competing with a team and $50 for families. The fee includes a T-shirt, a bottle of water and snacks. A chili meal will be provided to participants at 11 a.m. as they complete their activity.
