COLUMBIA — Columbia police officers responded to reports of gunfire near the northeast edge of the MU campus over the weekend.

At about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, multiple people called 911 to report hearing shots fired in the 1300 block of Rosemary Lane. Police arrived within two minutes of getting the report and interviewed witnesses in the area.

"We're not sure if the block was targeted specifically, or if it was random in nature," Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.

Officers found five shell casings at the scene. Stroer said the police are still looking for the suspect.
