CEDAR RIDGE: Elementary school to have fall parties, no school on Friday

Wednesday, October 26, 2011 | 2:44 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — Cedar Ridge Elementary School, 1100 Rosetta Ave., will hold its annual fall parties at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the school.

Individual classes will have parties in their respective classrooms. The fourth- and fifth-grade classes will have a joint party in the gym.

Principal Angie Chandler said the parties will include games, dancing and treats for the students. Parents will help.

The Parent Teacher Association has coordinated with the school to provide snacks and volunteers, Chandler said.

"It brings together families in the school," Chandler said. "It's something that the families can get together with the school and do something fun for our kids together."

Chandler said school will be dismissed at the usual time on Thursday.

Like other Columbia public schools, Cedar Ridge will not have classes on Friday due to a teacher's work day.

Classes will resume at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
