Shots fired near Quail Drive; police investigating incident

COLUMBIA — The Columbia Police Department responded to calls of shots being fired around 9:55 p.m. Wednesday near Quail Drive and Nelwood Drive. 

Police officers received reports saying shots were fired from 150 to 200 feet away into a group near Quail Drive and Nelwood Drive, according to a news release.  

No one was injured during the shooting. 

Police officers found shell casings in the grassy area behind 2701 Quail Drive. 

Police spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said her department had no description of the shooter.  

The police are continuing to investigate the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Columbia Police Department at 874-7652 or Crime Stoppers at 875-8477 to give information anonymously.
