ST. JOSEPH — It's now been 150 years since the Pony Express riders made their last trip from St. Joseph to California.

And Missouri is marking the event with the public showing of a documentary and historical reenactments.

The St. Joseph News-Press reported that the film "1861: Spirit of the Pony Express" will premiere Saturday at Missouri Western State University. It was created by the California-based, independent film group Knowledge Tree Films.

Last weekend in St. Joseph, a crowd gathered at the original headquarters of the historic mail delivery service to memorialize the last rider leaving the Patee House in October 1861.

The transcontinental telegraph was completed that month, causing the end of the historic mail delivery service.

St. Joe is a neat place to visit. Quite a few really cool museums, incredible parkway to drive, great parks and overlooks.
