Rock Bridge cross country girls, boys clinch first at sectionals

Rock Bridge High School boys and girls cross country teams both took first place at the Class 4 Sectional 3 meet in Camdenton on Saturday. 

Senior Caleb Wilfong placed first among boys in 15:21, beating the second place runner by only one second.

Bruins senior Jordan Cook was close behind in third place, in 15:34. Junior Nathan Keown took fifth place at 15:47.

There were 77 runners in the boys 5K, and all seven Rock Bridge runners placed in the top 25.

Freshman Kayla Funkenbusch took fourth place among girls with a time of 18:51. Senior Sam Garrett finished seventh in 19:07. Rounding out the top 10 for Rock Bridge was junior Megan Schulte, in eighth place with a time of 19:13.

Both Bruins teams qualified to compete in the State Cross Country Championship next weekend in Jefferson City.
