COLUMBIA — Walnut Street, from Hubbell Drive to College Avenue, will be closed from Thursday to Nov. 17 for repairs and construction work, according to a news release from the Public Works Department.

The work was originally scheduled to finish Thursday but was delayed due to rain.

Remsel Excavating, working for Trittenbach Development, will close the street to repair a sanitary sewer manhole and connect a new service line.

Stedem said the project is for a private developer needing to construct a service line for an apartment complex being built at the corner of College Avenue and Walnut Street.

Motorists have been advised to use caution in the area and take alternate routes during construction.

"The road will be barricaded, and there is a traffic plan in place to reroute traffic on these streets," Stedem said.
