COLUMBIA — Volunteers are collecting donations for Joplin from 9 a.m. to about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The food and money collected will go to New Creation Church to be distributed in Joplin for Thanksgiving. The money gathered will be used to purchase turkey and ham.

People can also buy raffle tickets for guns or swords, which will raffle on Nov. 10.

The participating Hy-Vee stores are located at 3100 W Broadway, 405 E Nifong Blvd. and 25 Conley Rd.

Hector Maldonado, a volunteer, said that volunteers will bring the food supplies to Joplin by Nov. 12. The Knights of Columbus is sponsoring the event.
