Thursday's sixth injury accident occurs at College and Walnut

COLUMBIA — At 1:03 p.m. a three-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of College Avenue and Walnut Street on Thursday. It was the sixth injury accident to occur Thursday.

One person was sent to Boone Hospital Center. The extent of that person's injuries was unknown. College Avenue was blocked to northbound traffic for a short period of time.

A tow truck was called for two of the three vehicles. Damage was also done to a fence on Stephens College property.

Columbia Police Department Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer said the day's earlier five accidents did not cause serious injuries.

Stroer said the weather might have played a factor in the number of accidents.

"With the pavement being wet, people think they can stop sooner, but they can't," Stroer said.
