Columbia College women's basketball beats Central Methodist

The Columbia College women's basketball team defeated Central Methodist 83-35 on Friday in its first game of the season and the first game of the Lady Eagle Classic.

The Cougars shot 9 of 17 from beyond the 3-point line in the first half and entered the break leading 50-19. They shot 53 percent for the game and had five players in double figures.

Kayla Rice led the team with 16 points, Heather English and Makenzie Smith added 14 points apiece and Airelle Eldridge and Amanda Phillips each had 12.

Columbia College, ranked No. 18 in the NAIA, plays its next game tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Missouri Valley.
