PHOTO GALLERY: MU students celebrate 11-11-11 with prize-worthy pingpong ball drop

Hundreds of people watch as 11,111 ping pong balls fall from the second story of the MU Student Center on Friday. Most of the ping pong balls fell into the first few rows of the crowd.

At 11:11 a.m. Friday, 11,111 pingpong balls were dropped from the roof of the MU Bookstore to a crowd waiting to catch them below. Some of the balls were redeemable for prizes, which included headphones, water bottles, printers and a laptop.

On Friday, 11,111 pingpong balls rain down from the top of the MU bookstore. Some of the ping pong balls were specially marked to return for prizes.
Students use umbrellas, pitchers, baskets and nets in attempts to catch some of the 11,111 ping pong balls dropped from the roof of the MU Bookstore at 11:11 a.m. Friday. Some of the balls — 1,111, to be exact — were redeemable for prizes from the bookstore.
