COLUMBIA — World Hoop Day was celebrated Friday at Flat Branch Park.

The international event is a call for world peace, and is held annually. The event was organized by the World Hoop Day organization, a nonprofit group formed to distribute hula hoops worldwide and raise awareness for the event, in conjunction with The Hulagans, a mid-Missouri hula hooping group, and Burn Circus.
