No injuries after attempted robbery at Columbia Subway

COLUMBIA — Nothing was stolen when a man tried robbing a Subway restaurant with a gun Friday night, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

Police were dispatched to the Subway at 607 E. Business Loop 70 after being alerted to an armed robbery at about 6:56 p.m. Friday, according to the release. No one was injured and nothing was stolen during the robbery.

A man entered the restaurant, displayed a gun and demanded money, police determined after their investigation. According to the release, the Subway employee called 911 after retreating to the kitchen.

Police are seeking a black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 135 pounds. He was wearing a black face mask and a plaid black and red hooded work jacket over a black sweater, according to the release.
