Friday, November 18, 2011 | 3:07 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — To offset the turkey and stuffing later in the day, residents plan to run or walk in the Turkey Trax 5K on Thanksgiving Day.

The race will start 8:30 a.m. at Rock Bridge High School. Registration is $32 after Nov. 18, according to the race website. Registration will take place on the day of the event.

The Rock Bridge High School athletics department is one of the charities benefiting from the proceeds of the race.

Racers can choose among several sponsored charities, event manager Kaela Rorvig said. They include Ronald McDonald House, Susan G. Komen Mid-Missouri Affiliate, Rainbow House, Girls On The Run and Children's Miracle Network.
