Sunday gunfire in Columbia leads to arrest of Fulton man

Monday, November 14, 2011 | 6:09 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — A Fulton man turned himself in to  police Sunday evening in connection to a report of shots fired early that morning in the 4700 block of Dehaven Drive.

Ladeigh R. Cowans, 18, turned himself in to the Fulton Police Department at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Cowans was arrested on suspicion of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and three counts of second-degree assault, according to a Columbia police news release. He was transported to Boone County Jail, Columbia Police Sgt. Jill Schlude said.

Schlude said the gunfire "stemmed from an earlier dispute." No one was injured in the shooting, but there was damage to the front doors of a duplex.

There was a shooting Saturday night at Edenton Boulevard, but Schlude said the department is not aware of any connection between the two shootings.
