JOPLIN — Missouri Southern University football coach Bart Tatum has resigned.
Tatum's resignation was announced Tuesday by Athletics Director Jared Bruggeman.
The Lions went 3-7 this season, their fourth straight seven-loss season. The Joplin Globe reported that Tatum resigned Monday after meeting with Bruggeman on Sunday night.
Tatum's two-year contract, at $85,696 per year, expires on Dec. 31. He will stay on staff as a football consultant until a new coach is named.
Bruggeman said a nationwide search for the Lions' next coach has already begun.
