FORSYTH — A proposed racetrack in southwest Missouri has a tentative green flag after a board rejected all appeals to stop construction.

A developer wants to build a three-quarter-mile asphalt track south of Hollister, calling it the Branson Sports Entertainment Complex.

On Wednesday night, the Taney County Board of Adjustment denied five appeals to stop the track's construction. The board also gave track developers one of the exceptions they sought on restrictions on the development.

Supporters of the track said it will bring jobs and economic development to the area. Several opponents, including Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops, said the track will damage the Ozarks' environment and cause too much noise and traffic.

KY3-TV reported that opponents and their attorneys said they will go to court.
