COLUMBIA —  An Eldon man was killed early Sunday morning after a vehicle traveling the wrong way on U.S. 54 struck his vehicle head-on.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Larry Huston, 56, was traveling westbound on U.S. 54 when an eastbound vehicle driven by Marta Vaca, 29, of Kingdom City, struck his vehicle at about 2:33 a.m.

Huston was pronounced dead at the scene. Vaca and her passenger, Jerry Friend, 29, of Fulton, were transported to separate hospitals where they were listed in serious condition.

Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Paul Reinsch said the investigation by the patrol's Major Crash Investigation Unit is expected to last several weeks.
