COLUMBIA — A woman with a handgun attempted to rob a gas station east of town Friday night.

Just before midnight, the woman, armed with a black semiautomatic handgun, confronted an employee inside of the Kwik BP gas station at 5701 E. St. Charles Road. She demanded money, but then she ran away on foot without taking anything, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

Boone County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived a few minutes later and searched with a police dog for the woman, but they did not find her.

Deputies are still looking for the suspect.
