Columbia College wins first match in NAIA National Championships

The Columbia College volleyball team beat Point Loma Nazarene University in the opening round of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Championships tournament Tuesday in Sioux City, Iowa, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22.

Senior Vesna Trivunovic led the team in kills with 10, and junior Kelly Corkum followed close behind with nine of her own, according to the NAIA website.

American Midwest Conference Player of the Year, Paula Ferreira, continued her dominant season with 31 of the Cougar's 39 assists.

The Cougars continue pool play Wednesday with a 1 p.m. match against Indiana Tech.
