FAIRVIEW: Fairview United Methodist hosts annual Little Bethlehem

Friday, December 9, 2011 | 1:26 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA —  Biblical Bethlehem will come to life Friday through Sunday at Fairview United Methodist Church. Parishioners will re-create the town of Bethlehem in a "living nativity" while visitors are guided by a shepherd through different scenes of the town, all leading to the manger. The set takes about 10 minutes to walk through.

This is the 19th year the church has held the Christmas event.

"I like that my children get to see what the true spirit of Christmas is about," said Jenny Holt, church administrative assistant.

After visitors walk through the nativity, they are invited into the church for cookies, refreshments and caroling.

Little Bethlehem is scheduled from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday and from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The event is free and will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church, 3200 Chapel Hill Road.
