Columbia College women's basketball team falls in Iowa

The Columbia College women's basketball team lost 55-43 to Ashford on Monday in Clinton, Iowa, to fall to 8-5 this season.

The Cougars made only 20 percent of their shots in the first half and trailed 31-17 at the break. In the second half, the Saints (6-6) forced 20 turnovers.

Airelle Eldridge led the Cougars with 22 points and seven rebounds. Kirsti Wilkerson had eight points and Julie Teeple pulled down nine rebounds.

The Cougars, who are ranked No. 23 in the NAIA, return to action at the Cougars vs. Cancer Classic. Columbia College plays Peru State at 6 p.m. Dec. 30 and Campbellsville at 6 p.m. Dec. 31. All games will take place at The Arena of Southwell Complex. A portion of the proceeds raised during the event will benefit the American Cancer Society.
