COLUMBIA — A car accident left a Columbia man dead and a woman seriously injured Tuesday morning.

At 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sharon M. Keeran, 57, was traveling north on U.S. 63 at Turkey Creek Bridge when her 1987 GMC pickup hit a patch of ice that caused her to veer left across the median cables into oncoming traffic, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

She collided head-on with Columbia resident John D. Drew, 55, who was driving southbound in a 2001 Toyota Camry.

The report said Drew was pronounced dead at 9 a.m. at University Hospital. Keeran had serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital. Drew was wearing a seat belt during the crash, but Keeran was not.
