Columbia College women defeat Peru State

COLUMBIA – In the first day of the Cougars vs. Cancer Classic, the Columbia College Cougars defeated Peru (Neb.) State College 90-55. 

Columbia College, ranked No. 23 in the latest NAIA top 25, improves to 9-5 on the season. The Bobcats fall to 0-14.

Columbia’s 43 percent shooting percentage and seven baskets from beyond the arc gave the Cougars a 43-20 lead at the break. The Bobcats connected on just eight of their 39 attempts from the field in the first half.

Play continues Saturday in the Cougars vs. Cancer Classic with men’s and women’s contests at 2, 4, 6 and 8 p.m.  At 2 p.m. the William Woods University women face Peru State, and the Cougars take on Campbellsville University at 6 p.m.
