Missouri men's basketball team defeats Texas

COLUMBIA — It was Phil Pressey's day. 

In addition to the sophomore guard's 10 assists and two steals, Pressey was the Missouri men's basketball team's second-leading scorer with 18 points in the No. 9 Tigers' 84-73 win over Texas on Saturday at Mizzou Arena.

The Tigers led the entire game, but late in the second half, the Longhorns closed to within 62-57. Over the next two minutes, Pressey made a 3-pointer, two free throws, a steal and a slam dunk, and had an assist to senior Steve Moore. 

Pressey's one-man breakaway and dunk brought the sold-out crowd of 14,026 to its feet, and the Tigers extended their five- point lead to 12 points. 

Senior forward Ricardo Ratliffe's 21 points led the Tigers, who improved to 16-1 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 Conference play. Senior Marcus Denmon had 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and 11 rebounds.
