Wednesday, January 18, 2012 | 3:12 p.m. CST

Coming off its third consecutive trip to the Women's College World Series, the Missouri softball team is the favorite to win the Big 12 in a coaches preseason poll.

This marks the first time in program history the Tigers were chosen as the No. 1 team. Missouri received 59 votes total, including three of nine first place votes.

Missouri won the Big 12 regular season championship last season with a record of  53-10, including a 15-3 record in conference play. The Tigers will return 11 letterwinners, including reigning Big 12 Pitcher of the Year Chelsea Thomas.

Oklahoma was chosen to finish second, followed by Texas and Baylor, which ended Missouri's run in the College World Series last season.
