Neighboring apartments on Blue Ridge Road burglarized

COLUMBIA — Columbia police were investigating two burglaries that took place in neighboring apartments on Blue Ridge Road on Monday.

Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said Beat 30, which includes that portion of Blue Ridge Road, has had nine reported burglaries in the past 28 days. Another burglary occurred the same day near Fourwinds Drive, a little more than a half mile away from the apartments on Blue Ridge Road.

The apartments are located less than a half mile away from Blue Ridge Elementary School, and the burglaries took place between 6 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The back doors of the apartments had been forced open.

Items taken from 2903 Blue Ridge Road include:

  • Four shotguns, three rifles and a semi-automatic pistol

  • Duck and goose calls

  • A GPS navigational system

  • A checkbook

Items taken from 2901 Blue Ridge Road include:

  • Three LCD televisions
  • Two laptops
  • Xbox Kinect device and games for Xbox, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii
